I want to make Delia`s christmas cake in a 6" round tin. http://www.deliaonline.com/how-to-cook/baking/scaling-up-cake-recipes.html

Has anyone actually done this? The differences in ingredients seem completely out of proportion to the difference in sizes. I guess it does work but I just wondered if anyone has personal experience (I know the cake mentioned in the article isn`t exactly the christmas one but it`s near enough)

No...I haven't actually done this, but I have used some simple geometry and, although the quantity of the various ingredients may LOOK wrong, they are about right for the scaled up/down versions of the cake. You may find the depth of cake differs slightly between different diameter tins.

Thanks. I`ll give it a bash and report back in a day or two.

Well, I think the quantities are OK. The mixture certainly looked the same as the last time when I made the cake to full size. However, the proof of the pudding...
NO, dear, I have not done this again. But I tried to prepare a Christmas cake in the last Christmas Day and that was so yummy.
