I bought a bottle of this the other day for the first time in years. It tasted incredibly sweet. Has it always been like that or have they changed the recipe?

Mine a having tomato soup for tea (Heinz obviously) and a mountain of those part baked bread rolls.
Yum.
Those who say "it has to be Heinz" may find this very interesting.....

When you are feeling poorly you have to have Heinz Tomato soup. No other brand has the same psychological and physical healing properties.
Eccles, Heinz tomato soup is absolutely the last thing I would want to have to eat if I were ill. It is disgusting.
Love tomatoes, but hate tomato soup and ketchup (except on hot dogs:-)). I have bought a cheaper version for the children, but it gives the youngest a red rash round his mouth, if it's not Heinz, so i stick to that.
DaisyNonna, Heinz tomato soup bears no relation to real tomato soup but for many of us it has a therapeutic, childhood memory of being cosseted by your Mum.

When I open a tin of Heinz Tomato Soup it is a hug not gastronomy that I am seeking.
The whole point of Heinz tomato soup is that it is nothing like tomato soup and no other tomato soup replicates it.
There is only one Heinz tomato soup and for its fans nothing else will do.
Absolutely agree, Heinz is the only tinned tomato soup I'd buy, pure comfort food.
I bought ours on offer from Asda - 4 tins for £2 (had to buy 2 lots though). Part baked bread from Aldi - 37p for four large rolls (as opposed to 6 smaller rolls for £1 from Sainsburys).
Sherrardk - does your family not know tastes other than bottled/tinned tomato with added salt and sugar?
Yes they do, although I am not sure why you are so interested in the eating habits of my family.
lol.

Did anyone else have tomato ketchup sandwiches when they were younger?
no, but salad cream sandwiches, yes :o)
Yes, my son still eats them! And we used to have sugar sandwiches with banana...
diddlydo, you are verging on bullying, in my opinion. Sherrardk has not asked for nutritional advice nor opinions on her family's diet.

ummm, I did have the occasional ketchup sandwich when I was little and I used to love ketchup on the cheese in a cheese sandwich.
how's the slow cooker going sher?
Ketchup is really good with cheese on toast with raw onion.
Mmm..hot buttered toast spread with tomato ketchup. Or cheese and tomato ketchup sandwich, or hot tomato soup with a liberal splash of worcester sauce. Heaven.
