The wild fish variety is fine as reared in rivers but the farmed fish isn't. A bit like the farmed salmon and the river salmon....

It's fine to eat or the supermarkets wouldn't be selling it.

Or would it be..?? on Internet says nasty things about it being contaminated
Well don't eat it then!

I have eaten it as has my hubby and we are both here!
Look it up on Wiki. It 'alleged' that it was a bit of a smear campaign going on.
These fish are reared on farms are contaminated with hormones (HCG) and fed on waste foods. Add that to being transported from vietnam and you end up with a fish which doesn't have much taste and cheap. I'd stick with fresh sea or river fish myself.
Of course, you won't die from eating it but all depends if you're fussy what you put in your mouth....
It is one of those products that if you look you can find equal numbers of articles for and against.

Buyers choice.

Interesting the comparison between farmed and wild salmon. Perhaps we just have to accept we are all being poisoned in one way or another
I'd eat it.
I love it! Going to have some smoked basa instead of smoked haddock in a risotto tomorrow, it's delicious.

thanks everyone! I will ascertain whether farmed or river sourced
Also known as Vietnamese river cobbler. It is perhaps okay baked or in a risotto but I really don't like it battered and fried. Tasteless mush rather than tasty translucent flakes.
