They make absolutely lovely lentil soup.
i bought some from aldi here in madrid the other day, very nice!!!
Hi piggynose, pardon my ignorance but what is the usual method of cooking it in Madrid?
I always buy them from the local butcher but I'll try Sainsburys' next time.
We buy them smoked here in the U.S. They're great for adding good flavor to white beans (we use Navy beans) served over cornbread with a side of freshly sliced Vidalia onions... especially in mid-winter... great southern comfort food!

Hint: Like any good southern food, it must be cooked in a cast iron pot. Ours is a hand-me-down over 125 years old.
Hi clanad smoked is the one I always buy has more taste,I do envy your pot by the way,my granny had a brilliant one but no one thought to keep it :0(
