Cant find a more appropriate site to ask so hope I'm in the right shop!

I'd probably just leave it on. (It won't do it any harm and it won't add a great deal to your electricity bill). But I'm confident that the 'official' advice would be to turn it off because:
(a) it will cost you money to leave it on ;
(b) it costs more to run a nearly-empty fridge/freezer than a full one [because they work more efficiently than when they're full] ;
(c) fire prevention officers prefer all electrical devices to be turned off when they're not in use ; and
(d) it's kinder to the environment to save electricity.

However, if you do switch it off, REMEMBER TO LEAVE THE DOORS OPEN!!!
(or it will stink the house out when you open it upon your return!)
I would leave it running too.
Sorry you asked it 4 days ago....and got about a dozen answers.

Was only going away for 3 weeks a few days ago - now it's a month. Makes a big difference to the advice!
I went away for six months, left everything in the fridge and freezer. Came back and everything was just as I'd left them. Even my house plants were still alive and good - this one was a shocker.

Once I'd forgotten apples in the fridge for a whole year and they were still edible, but, I did throw it out.
If it is completely empty switch it off ,pull the plug out and leave the doors open.
I'd leave it on
