Basic Biscuit Recipe

I am looking for a v basic biscuit recipe - I want to make plain biscuits, cut a shape out of the middle, fill with crushed bits of boiled sweets and then cook them (the sweets are supposed to melt and look like coloured glass). Thanks for any help.
