I have seen people on TV eating these super hot curries as a challenge using the worlds hottest chillies but can it do you any harm? I can't see that it can unless it gets in your eyes of course, after all you can get it on your skin without feeling it and it's not heat like a flame. I just wondered if anyone knew.

I wouldn't sit in one.....
Naaah!...long as you don't eat one every day.
years ago, had a friend who loved to eat mega hot chilli peppers, last I heard I was told that he had a serious problem from stomach ulcers as a direct result.

I remember once when on holiday when a few of us just sat and watched with disbelief as he did the crossword and snacked on these mega hot green chillis

Unfortunately, cant say I was surprised to hear he was not a well person
A friend of mine collapsed onto his indian takeaway and was lifeless in hospital for three weeks.

he'd fallen into a Korma.
I believe it makes you feel hot by irritation. In which case irritate the guts enough and you can get problems. Oh and some you can feel by putting them on your skin, they are handled with gloves.
I have no idea about the answer to your question, but Doctorb's answer has given me a proper chuckle :))
My Son used to eat a lot of very hot curries, his GP told him to stop, it was causing stomach problems.

I dont think just eating one now and then will hurt you.

You may notice that these people doing these mad chillie challenges will often wear rubber gloves, it will burn your skin.

Don't think it burns your skin...it just stays on your skin. You then rub your eyes or other sensitive parts !!!! and then it hurts.
Chillies can cause a burning sensation on your skin, that's why they use them to make things such as deep heat patched and sprays.
So a tip from Hammerman, when handling fresh, hot chillies, wash hands thoroughly before rubbing sensitive parts.

I will remember that :-)
Ring of fire.
A hot curry will not harm you if it is only occasional ." Vindaloo" is pretty fiery with " Tindaloo" or "Phal" even stronger, mostly chicken but the top one is Tarka which is 'otter
