I have been told to cook my gammon in coca cola in my slow cooker, can anyone please tell me how much coke to use. The joint weighs 2kg. Many thanks and Happy Christmas !

thanks boxtops, do I need to put it in oven afterwards or is it fine just like that ?
Whar sort of flavour does coco-cola give the ham? I am always ready to try something new.
Our recipe says cook it in the coca cola with a chopped onion, then take it out and cool it,and take off the skin, leaving all but a little of the fat, and then adorn it with cloves and a glaze (honey, or treacle or whatever) and whap it in the oven for another half hour for the glaze to set. You can do the glaze bit at the last minute.
Erm - not a cola flavour, IMO, but it makes it very moist.

Yes it does - OH did a tester the other day, with black treacle and brown sugar - the "crust" looked disgusting! (the meat was lovely, though!)
You'll need enough cola to cover the joint....and keep it topped up for the cooking so it depends on the size of your cooking pot. You can use cheap cola but don't use diet stuff. You can also use ginger beer and dry cider.

Once cooked, dry the gammon, smother in a mustard of your choice and then generously sprinkle with demerera sugar and roast uncovered for 20-30 minutes.
Doing ours in cider today. Not bothering with a glaze this year as everyone scrapes it off anyway.
I did mine in the slow cooker having firstly boiled it in water on the hob and then placed it in slow cooker with enough fresh boiling water to cover it, left it on overnight............best we ever tasted.......no cola in sight!
