i have all the ingredients needed except cream of tartar. will it effect the finished product.

Are you using it alongside baking soda?
Leave out both and use baking powder instead

I dont have either!! just read that you can use lemon juice or vinegar instead....but think I'll buy the proper stuff tommorow. Thanks anyway

ok, no worries
To use lemon juice or vinegar you'll need something to make it react, thats what the CoT will do
