With a knife ? Or grater maybe ?
Next time use a can of coconut milk and thicken towards the end with coconut cream.

It's a pain in the bum but the best way is using a potato peeler.

In some Asian grocers you can get a neat tool for grinding it out, the same shops usually sell frozen grated coconut too!

Good luck.....
Do you mean the cream from the oil? The oil is fine to use...in fact it is quite a healthy oil....use it for stirfrying.
ooops...I read this wrong-I thought you meant creamed coconut.
Err wolf hun how do you know that the scary lookers aren't real.
The liquid you "got out" of the coconut *isn't* coconut milk - and shouldn't be used in recipes that call for coconut milk.
