without going off. I buy fruit, but for some reason it's all taking an age to ripen. Nectarines, Peaches and even the Kiwi fruit. I put some out in a bowl
in the kitchen where it warm, so why is the stuff rock hard or not ripe after a week. Also how do i keep the little fruit flies away from the stuff, they are a pain

Try putting a banana with it.....something to do with a type of gas bananas produce...
Put them in a brown paper bag. I do this with avocados, and it softens them quite quickly.
AS above. Place unripe fruit in a bag with some bananas - they give off traces of ethylene which speeds up ripening of the other fruit.

Perhaps that's it, keep them in brown bags, will try that, it might
stop the fruit flies from having their lunch at my expense.
The fruit flies interest in your fruit is to lay their eggs in them to make more fruit flies.
Still want the fruit?
