i Have just ordered my groceries on line and on trawling through "pastes" came across coq au vin paste also several others I did not know existed. How would I use these?

Similar to the dry mixes in sachets for casseroles. Cook meat, vegetables add paste, water, stir, cook.
...should have said "brown meat"....etc.

Don't know - never tried them! I think that they are for people who don't really want to spend too much effort cooking.

as my husband and I are both disabled and housebound, we now have to find easy ways to cook, having our shoppi ng delivered. I hate this as I have always loved cooking!

Try this recipe from Bill Grainger BBC Food I find it very easy and delicious
In that case-the pastes may be ideal for you ,mrsmurphy. You can have variety in your food without having to spend a lot to buy umpteen ingredients,or spend hours getting a result.
