I have a block of unopened butter in the fridge but I should have used it by the 25th August. Is it still ok for me to use in baking?

Yes, it will be fine. You could just taste a bit to check it hasn't gone rancid but butter keeps for ages.
I would if it looked OK and didn't smell.

That's great, thank you! Off to make some biscuits now!
Butter doesn't have a "use by" date - it has a "best before" date. There is a difference.
