Just thinking about how we eat today & the things we take for granted. Years ago, we had mum at home ... you got home & your tea was made. You may once in a while buy 'chippy' in as a treat or have a takeaway. Now you can 'order in' as I have just done .. not by phone .. via my lap top & paid for by card! Brilliant!

Go on ?
It was nice in the old days though - coming home to Mum's smiling face and a lovely cooked tea. Pies were a treat on certain days as was fish and chips from the chippy. I love my takeways now, but I do miss the old days.
really, so you reckon everyone does this, and could afford to?
Chioce is nice, but I've not found a need for food delivery that couldn't be done over the phone. If it comes to that, I only recall ordering pizza anyway. Got to watch those high calorie 'take-aways' though. Rare treat only.

Course it was nice coming home to your mums cooking notas ! ... Remember when you got your salt & vinegar on the chippy counter .. now they're told to hide it and only put it on if asked for it! Our local chippy was telling us the 'salt police' may be about so he had to hide it under the counter lol! It's a drive to lower salt intake.
Two meals I liked as a teenager were chicken soup on a Sunday and stew.
I only have takeaways as a treat too, as it would be expensive to eat this way always. Still go to Mum and Dad's for a lovely cooked meal every other Sunday which I always look forward to. Dad does the cooking nowadays.

o.g ... I usually order over the phone .. my son introduced us to ordering by card ... if there's no loose money in the house it's really handy!
My Dad still makes a mean stew, oh and his sausage and mash is second to none !
I ordered a Pizza online from a takeaway 5 miles away. I ordered at 10 minutes to 6 and it was here at 15 minutes past 6!

trim .. right! Got you lol!
after a hard days graft in the garden... think I deserve my order in!
I agree how much it's changed for me - we had very plain food (but plentiful as Dad grew huge veg), but he wouldn't eat anything "messed about" so the menu was fairly repetitive. For Dad, shepherds' pie was an innovation. What he would have made of my Mediterranean lunch yesterday, I have no idea - mozarella, beef tomatoes, and olives were very nice on a hot day.
Re the takeaways - we had one three weeks ago, we just can't afford to eat out (or to get someone to bring it in) these days.
