I love long spaghetti, you know the 2 foot long stuff, just a few years ago all the shops sold it, now we cant find any.

Do you buy long spaghetti or short spaghetti ?

Do you cut yours up or twirl it on your fork ?

If I'm in company I twirl it on a spoon. If alone, I slurp it up.

I buy long pasta, fresh usually. I prefer things fresh and long.
^ That'll be Chuck then..............
I have to have that awful gluten-free stuff that you can't get in long lengths that Buitoni used to make.
I twirl my spaghetti OH cuts his up into little pieces!!

What's the point? People only used to break it into thirds to get it in the pan to cook it!
I prefer the long, which I can't often get, and I twirl it on my fork. I also prefer the whole wheat spag.
I'm a twirler. There are fewer shops that stock the long stuff now, 'cos a lot of the spaghetti trees have been chopped down.
I remember. It used to be available in dark blue paper.
Designed by sadists for masochists. Ideal way to get to the afternoon meeting with the chairman with orange stains all over your shirt & tie. (And your face if not careful.) Anyway I think it's because they rooted out the Italian spaghetti orchards back in the sixties. Stock must be quite low now.
You don't have to break it to get it in the pan Mercia? I just twizzle it in my hands and drop it in horizontally and then gently eaze in down into the boiling water as it softens.
I didn't realise that the spaghetti orchards had been destroyed! I shall plant some Spaghetti then to compensate!!
Yes, Lofty, most of the trees have gone now. You'll have to persevere with the trees; it takes a finely-tuned climate to grow spaghetti.

I know Lofty - I'm just saying, when I used to teach, people used to bring the long stuff in and break it into thirds, I'd show them how to feed it round the pan into boiling water, then they'd moan it was too long to eat!
I love it long, it's more exciting, if a tad messy.
The worse spaghetti of all is that tinned slimy stuff in tomato sauce, cut into little bits, that you have on toast. Do people still eat that? I used to get given in in the 50's, a sort of alternative to baked beans. Haven't eaten in in many decades.
It was quite some time in my life before I discovered that all spaghetti wasn't Heinz spaghetti in tomato sauce. Not had it for yyears but I'm sure it's still about. I used t think that if I was having canned whatever in tomato sauce I'd rather it was beans.

I so agree LoftyLottie
Oooh, I so agree Lottie, dreadful stuff that canned spaghetti! When we can get the long spaghetti, I twirl it and let it gently slide down into the water. I remember the one in the blue paper too. Great fun to eat! I have been to restaurants where they served the long spaghetti and gave you a bib to wear, much like the ones you get when you eat lobster. Good fun!
I prefer linguine it is easier to twirl as it sits flat on the fork
