President Obama calmed a national race row in the States by inviting both men round for a beer.

Should all rows and diplomacy be sorted out this way?

Tea or alcohol free beer could be used for non-drinkers.

Why not? Seems to have worked. Man to Man and all that. If all else fails they could invite each other to 'take it outside' and get a UN rep. to 'see fair play'.

Maybe it won't work with Muslims though as they're likely to be offended by the consumption of alcohol and the Scots would want to fight after the first few sips.

The muslims in my local restaurant are quite happy to see me consume plenty of alcohol, as is the local off-license. The do not partake themselves, but are fine with others doing so.

I've been to a few of them; full of drunk Scots ;-)
Yes I've often said that most problems can be solved with Stella. I suspect the "beer" in question was some p1ss weak yankee brew, but hey the theory is sound!

I agree with you about p1ss weak yankee brew' but a pint of 'Wifebeater' is not a substitute.

Why would anyone in Sussex want to drink Stella? There's an adundance of decent local breweries such as Harveys and Arundel brewing top quality ales.
right that's a Geezertwa declared on Booldowg, COTLG commandment 2 thou shalt imbibe the holy Stella on the Geezer Sabath. Commandment 4 thou shalt not take the name of the holy Stella in vane, you have offended all the followers of the COTLG and as such I declare a Geezertwa. This involves foribly imbibing 10 pints of the holy Stella followed by and extra large portion of the contents of the holy kebab shop.
