My mother used to drink this product back in the 60's, she used to put the substance in her cup and add hot water, I think it had molasses in it. It looked just like hot coffee but had a sorgum molasses smell to it, not sure if there was any coffee in it . Please, if you have any idea what this was, it is on the tip of my tongue and I have tried to do everything to jog my memory. I am dying to know what this was.

Camp Coffee ? brown liquid in a bottle similar to a Worcestershire Sauce bottle
my granny used to drink chickory (think thats what it was called) and it was just like you described
Camp coffee contained chicory, that's what it would have been.
Camp Coffee
You can still get Camp coffee. It's great with ice!
My dad always used to drink Camp - it was made with chicory wasn't it? It's good for making coffee cake
Its nice in the summer as well. One teaspoon mixed in a glass of cold milk with a few ice cubes for good measure. Very refreshing!
Remember it well. Always sticky around the neck of the bottle.
But is it a politically correct name these days?
I jest.
I notice that after 2006 the Indian was allowed to sit down !
