I'm curious to know how everyone does their Coffees as everyone likes it different. I have my own way too, though I experiment nevertheless. Include your special methods, toppings, brands, number of shots / sugar, styles etc...

Espresso "stove top" pot, if on my ow.

If I have a few friends over, I make a cafettiere.

If I have a lot of friends all together, I use a filter machine.

I'd like a proper "plumbed in" espresso unit, but the cost about a grand.

WHat's your "special way" Blue Maze ?

At work we (me and my two colleagues) have a fresh brew - we bought a filter machine between us (wow.. it cost all of 20, massive investment) but only two mugs in the morning each freshly made... any more and we go a bit hyper ! We really like the Douwe Egberts filter coffee and search out the bargains/offers in the supermarket.

At home (ie weekends/leave/days off) I also have a filter machine but tend to simply boil the kettle and use Carte Noir instant coffee - again only two mugs per morning for the same reasons.

I take my coffee strong, black and no sugar.
Strong and black ... like your men, Jugglering ?

:-))

joggerjayne: Love Expresso Macchiato, but milk without the foam for me, & topped with Cinnamon is real a treat. Agree with you on filtered, I'd mainly brew at work or if there were others to share. Otherwise instants are faster..

Jugglering: Do have strong black sometimes, but not REALLY really strong. Now that you mention it, it's worth a try. Carte Noirs seems good, how would you compare it with the usual Nescafe e.g. Gold Blend?

Espresso is undoubtedly the very best method of making coffee, followed by cafetiere. After years of experience I'm of the opinion that the filter-paper type machines are a dead loss. I add scalded milk (heated till it sizzles at the edge of the pan, but not fully boiling). Douwe Egberts is a favourite, and I find that Lyons 'Original' is pretty fair too.
i go for the rombouts filter cup thingys, fill half the mug with milk and heat then add the filter and water. or i go to nearest coffee shop and get a double shot latte which is my fave
plain and simple, I use instant nescafe with milk and 2 sugars but I am more of a tea person.

When making Instant coffee:
Whilst I heat the water, I add the coffee, sugar and milk into my mug and mix together. Then heat in microwave until milk turns a little frothy and the coffee has dissolved (takes only a short-while). Then add the boiled water. If I have to add anything else I do so with the sugar and milk.
I'm not fond of too much milk in coffee, so don't crave for Lattes although they are indeed nice.

Now that I think about it, I wouldn't really be able to stay away from a delicious Cafe Latte or a Latte itself. They're irresistable.

Everyone: Which Coffee chain/shop's your fave or worth your money? Which do you hate?
