A few years ago we bought a bottle of sweet semi-sparking red wine from Waitrose. We have never seen it anywhere else since. Does anyone know the name of it?

It might have been a Brachetto d'Acqui - very sweet, low in alcohol and slightly sparkling - lovely chilled on a summer day!

We think the label had an Art Noveaux type picture of a lady surrounded with grapes!
It is Banrock Station - I won a bottle of this in a competition at work. I think you will find that it is this :

Banrock Station Sparkling Shiraz South Australia
(Bin 29806, 7.99)
Australia produces many first-rate examples of classic sparkling wines, competing with champagne itself; here, though, is a native style of wild exuberance. Yes, this is a red sparkling wine (with pretty lilac-coloured foam) made entirely from Shiraz grapes grown in the vineyards of Australia's biggest wine state. It has an enticing smell of salty blackcurrants and blackberries, with a mouthfilling flavour of red fruits chased through with a little salty tar. It has a slightly sweet taste - though only slightly, and if you match it with food (as you easily could), you probably won't notice. As for that colour... one glance and you just have to smile.

and waitrose sell it online too.

Thanks for your answer tubeway but its not Banrock Station I'm afraid, although we've had that one too and it's lovely!
