In case you've not noticed it, Morrison's currently have a 'Beer Festival' promotion on, with loads of guest bottled ales. (4 for £6).

Some are old favourites (such as Young's Double Chocolate Stout) but there are quite a few which are new to me.

I'm currently enjoying a few bottles of this:

Happy supping, guys (and gals)!

Thanks for the heads up, Chris. I'll have a mooch in Morrisons the weekend I think.
Although Tesco have had four for six quid deal for a while now ( well they have in my neck of the woods anyway ).
Workie ticket. A good old-fashioned Geordie term for a troublemaker.

I thought of you when I posted, Tony ;-)

It's not the price which attracted to me the offer. (As you say, it's fairly common across the major supermarkets). It was simply the chance to try a few different beers (which seem to have been well selected, as they all seem to have won plenty of awards).

If you do go into Morrison's, don't waste your time looking in the usual place for bottled beers. You'll probably find the promotion on a completely separate display elsewhere in the store. (At least that's how they've done it in Ipswich).
Thanks for that Chris. I work in Morrisons' and hadn't even seen them! Not even after this morning when one of our guys said he'd just seen Ilkley, Siberia and Rhubarb on a beer bottle and thought he was going mad.

An appropriate ale for most of us here then, JD33 ;-)
Question Author
Yes, I spotted that one, Captain2.

I'm not normally a great fan of rhubarb but I know that it goes well in some combinations (such as rhubarb and ginger ice cream), so I might give it a try:

Right then that's definitely on the list ;-)

^^^ It's definitely very tasty, Tony!

;-)
Mmmmmm, maybe more than one then Chris.
Question Author
Come off it, Tony!

When have you ever stopped at one?

;-)
Mmmmmm hang on Chris.
Ah I remember now, I was sixteen and tried a Barleywine. One of those was more than enough ( it was horrible ).
Thanks Chris. All Leeds Brewery beers are excellent. Small compensation for Tetleys closing.
Question Author
I learnt to drink on barley wine!

When I was a kid, my dad would go to the pub and come back with a Babycham or Cherry B for my mum and a barley wine for me ;-)
Question Author
^^^ I lived in Yorkshire (Sheffield) for 20 years, Z-M. My opinion of Tetley's beers was that they were great around Leeds but they simply didn't travel well. (It was almost impossible to find a decent pint of Tetley's around Sheffield although a few Rotherham pubs seemed capable of looking after their beers properly).

Leeds Brewery is a new one to me but I'll try to sample their beer via the Morrison's promotion. (The only problem of such promotions is that you find an ale you really like and then, when the promotion ends, you can't get hold of it again!)
LOL, the training started at a young age then Chris.
Question Author
I did, indeed, start quite young, Tony but it was strictly only one bottle per day.

My 14th birthday was the first time that my parents happily assumed that somewhat larger quantities of alcohol would be consumed ;-)
Anyone remember Whitbread's Trophy? The taste always varied depending on what part of the country you were in.
so it was onwards and upwards, Chris.
Whitbread Tankard was the subject of a Spoonerism in my ;ocal!
I am just enjoying a 500ml bottle of Bank's Amber Bitter 3.8% just 91p on special offer at my Morrisons ! It is very good and I'm particular about what beer I drink.
