Me and my cousins Niamh who both want to do marine sciences are looking for another distant cousin who also wants to do something similar.

But there's noone left in the family that knows both sides so it's incredibly diffilcult to find them. They're my great nans cousins great great grandson (don't ask me to put the apostrophes in that) but we're pretty sure that they're in the year below me.

We know that it's a male, probably in year eleven, and that he goes to a grammar school (or somewhere else for intelligent people) somewhere in the midlands, but that's about it, apart from the name of our common ancestor.

Is this a hopeless cause or is there a way of finding him?

In slight hope of finding him, Niamh has posted a message on a student forum that is mainly used by students of higher ability but he might not go on there, and we can't think of anything else, as there's noone else in our family that knows anyone else in this other persons . . .

It's a once only offer Molly, i have emails backed up asking for research help so you've got a window of opportunity that is only open til Emmerdale starts.
This could be fun...

What time does Emmerdale start?
This might be a daft question, but why do you want to find him?

Jacob and Ellie/Ellen Law. (she thinks they're might be another generation before them though), we're getting confused now how many greats there are.

We think one of his family is called Sheila.
Question Author
And maybe someone else called Julie.
All I can say is that if this is the future of marine science then I feel very sorry for the poor bloody fish!

what part of the country?
was it Walsall?
That was the hit I came up with Dotty!!! But I am wary about actually bothering because in 486 posts' time the OP will probably say "Oh sorry it was actually joseph laws and Nellie"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the name Jacob Law is quite uncommon in the 20th century isn't it barmaid, but with no dates or location reference it's wasted effort
Question Author
yes the walsall area.

At a rough guestimate ellie law (ford) was born about 1860 and jacob in the early 1850s.
Yes there are not that many of them.

But now we have more info - Dotty I assume you must have Jacob Law in 1884 with potentially Ellen Ford? Shame it's so far back though.

Molly, have you got any info from your great gran like a maiden surname or something?
Barmaid Jacob and Josephine Law had a daughter mary reg walsall but there are then 6 other children at Cannock staffordshire, need to check for a seoond law/holland marriage
