It seems that John Travolta's wife Kelly has just given birth aged 48!
Now I have no children, and in fact have never been pregnant, but something seems wrong here.
I know we women CAN have babies late but something in this seems odd to me.
Not that long after(sadly) losing their son she amazingly produces another child,as to replace the other.
Was it conceived by IVF,or surrogacy,we will probably never know the truth(especially given that they are Scientologists)
Any thoughts welcome.
I apologise if this sounds hard.

Yes, it does sound hard
I think ' replace' is a harsh word- they lost their son tragically and want another child- is that so hard to understand? I think that's she's 48 is niether here nor there, many couples go the IVF route for whatever reasons and I only hope that they have more luck than they've had to date- I'm not quite sure what you're problem is with it- are bereaved parents never supposed to have further children, if so why?
48 isnt old, at all.
I know a few people that got pregnant in their late 40's....naturally.
I don't think anyone has a chile to "replace" another. IVF, surrogacy, natural, whatever. As long as any child is well looked after and loved, it isn't anyone else's business.

I see,Mothers are sacrosanct on AB and mustn't be questioned no matter what.OK I get the hint.
No not at all Invicta. I asked a simple question and you didn't answer it, I was just trying to get inside seeing what you thought was so odd or wrong about it. My own mother is the most heinous b1tch on the planet just to put you straight there.
Natural birth aged 48....................no big deal.
Invictas - I have no children. I'm not a mother but I am allowed to have an opinion and on this I just think it doesn't really matter she is 48 if she is fit and well. And as for the conception - so what? It doesn't effect my life or yours in any way at all.
Weird question. Noone can replace a child in any way. It would never have entered my mind. Good luck to them. A lucky child who is wanted and will receive a lot of love.
Many mothers have given birth naturally at 48. But if they went by IVF or surrogacy that is up to them. 48 is not old!
In my opinion the age that women should stop having babies is when they can't have babies naturally. If they are still able to conceive naturally and are healthy then what on earth is the problem?
I'd slash my wrists.......
lol @ craft:)
Well, It wouldn't have been welcomed by me Craft! But each to his own.
I had a pregnancy scare when I was 45..........I honestly don't know what I'd have done if I had been pregnant.
I did too at 47 Craft!! I would have accepted it, but must admit I was relieved it was only a scare.
"we will probably never know the truth"

I should think not. Why would anyone feel obliged to announce to the world how their child was conceived?

If having a second child affter one has died is 'replacing' it, does that mean having a second child when the first is alive means you are disappointed in the first one so have decided to try to improve on it? Or does it just mean you've had a second child...
I have recently lost a child, i would like to have another at some point. However, my beautiful daughter can never be "replaced" and if i ever got pregnant again i certainly wouldn't think of it as just replacing what i don't have. It will be a brother or sister for her and if i am ever lucky enough to be a mum again, that child will grow up knowing about their sister as she was so significant (ok, so not to the world, but to us). I will probably have to have IVF to get pregnant again and i certainly hope that it happens sooner than 2 years (which incidentally has been how long it is since their son died) Doesn't seem all that soon to me,
to me your question does sound hard because it feels like you are suggesting that me wanting another child as they did is something "wrong"
Invictas - Women are 'vulnerable' (if you like) to getting pregnant as long as they are fertile.
The age at which this ceases varies, and it was ever thus.....
