finally spoke to tax credits as they were closed until today and i didnt receive my payment this week- apparently they received communication saying that i DIED on 30th September! very unimpressed and shaken by this.... i find it more amazing though that they can just write someone off without a death certificate, and not even send a letter to my partner stating that he will need to reapply as an individual!

Did they tell you who informed them of your death?
ooh, i just heard a ghostly voice talking about tax credits
With the bureaucracy in most government offices I'm surprised they talked to you at all. they probably have a policy stating they are not meant to speak to dead people.
Is your mum called gina by any chance?
Data Protection Act does not apply to dead people chuck

lol im so annoyed about this... they didnt say who rang up and they dont record all their calls either!!
I feel like Derek Acorah all of a sudden....
Even if they can't tell YOU who, they should certainly be making enquiries into their cock up
Question Author
definitely im in the process of emailing them- my friend said i should ring the sun and give them the story- lol- or i may actually sue tax credits if they cant give me a reasonable explanation
You might sue? Really? You want to sue for not receiving free money?
When my father in law died I had to send what seemed like hundreds of photocopies of his Death Certificate to all and sundry at the time. Your story is terrible. Heads should roll but of course they won't.

i meant suing if they cant give a reasonable explanation why this has happened.. its very frightening you know!!
What...to be told your dead when you know your not. Really scary stuff...
Sue for what?
You can't sue them for crying out loud! You are claiming a benefit and missed a week's payment, when you phoned them they sorted it out so you were only short of money for one week. If you are frightened by them thinking you were dead then you need to grow a backbone!
sue for not receiving free money, dont be ridiculous ummmm. and its hardly free money in this case, she has worked full time since leaving school and college, and even before had a job from age 14, she has brought up 2 children very well who are a credit to her and does not have time off at the drop of a hat.
For scaring her....she might have actually thought she was dead for a minute or two...
Given the blatant misuses of the DPA I've heard some call centre staff try and get away with it wouldn't surprise me if they tried to apply it to dead people!
It's still money she hasn't earned Gina...

grow up ummm... dont comment on my page if youre gonna be sarcastic and immature... i use my wages to pay my bills and my daughters nursery, and the tax credits are my money to tick us over during the month.... since i havent been paid i have had two direct debits come out of my bank- neither which have been paid so there is 2 charges straight off, and also i will have another one on thursday which means 3 charges
