My best friend just told me that she's pregnant so th first thing you do is go online(well I always do), but then I was talking to someone in work and apparently you're not supposed to buy the baby things because it's bad luck.

Is this really true and what other myths etc are out there?

If you buy the baby ANYTHING it will be a tragedy.....

Eeeeeerr....no, stop being so silly. Don't buy anything until they have had their first scan and are given the OK.
its bad luck to keep a pram in the house until baby born. But most people do wait to buy first item until the 1st scan. x
I don't think it's a myth so much as practical. While everyone wants to celebrate, as ummm says, most people feel it's better to wait until at least 12 weeks before they go public, to be on the safe side - so much can happen in those early weeks.. Hoping everything goes well for your friend !
These myths are based in the past, when infant mortality was far higher than it is today.

The general 'twelve week' rule is sensible, so go with that.

Thanks!! It's not 12 weeks until the end of April so I guess I'll just have to wait.
