Does anyone know when the winter fuel payments for pensioners will be paid in 2009? Do the payments have to be applied for or are they automatically paid with the pension?

I've trawled the internet and can't find the dates anywhere only loads of guff about the payments continuing.

Thank you.

the site says it "should be with you before Christmas"
They are being issued as of now .You get it with your ordinary pension payment. Some people have had it already in my area , others not as yet. But it will happen.
Received mine on Thursday.
got mine two weeks ago, the preceding letter said they would be paid out throughout november

Oi Doc, should you both get it?

That doesn't sound right. Surely a couple doesn't have twice the heating costs.
Had a letter last year as it was my first year qualifying for it but to date have not received this year's...
will I qualify yet? How old do you have to be? And will my daughter get it if she is on long term incapacity benefit?
winter fuel payment are being paid out now. I got mine last week. Automatically payed once on pension
Do pensioners get it whether they work or not?
dunno how old you are dot, but isn't it just for pensioners? don't think your daughter will be eligible!
My lodger is a pensioner and gets it (got it 2 weeks ago) even though he doesn't actually pay for heating
I think it's £200 each for over 60s (ladies) /65s (men) and then it's more if you are over 80.

Thank you all very much. I couldn't have wished for a better response.
I don't understand why people on long term incapacity don't qualify, how are they meant to keep their house heated?
Dot, I am on Incapacity Benefit and Disability Living Allowance and I get a payment if the temperature drops below freezing for seven days. It's not a lot though. If I remember rightly last year I got £50. I also think it's only if you're on Disability benefit.
