My wife walked out 2 months ago with for no other reason than she needed to "find herself" she wont talk to me and has sent me a letter trough her lawyer stating that she will meet her half of all joint obligations apart from the mortgage as she "suspects" I have tenants living in it, I e-mailed her lawyer stating that this was not the case then the lawyer stated that if I was then living in it that I would be due to pay my wife rent therefore she still would not pay her half of the mortgage!! What can I do? Should I get my own solicitor? Thanks clever people!!

I hate to disappoint you but my friend has been told exactly the same thing by her lawyer that she must pay her boyfriend as she is now living in the house on her own.. Consequently she has decided to put the house up for sale.. with the current state of the economy she is making no profit on the house but she doesn't care - rather than give him any money...
to me this seems like total bullying tactics. If you have a joint mortgage, then you are BOTH responsible for 100% of it - it's not your fault she choses not to live there is it? Perhaps you could get lodgers to help you pay?
Anyway, if the mortgage defaults and you get a ccj, so will she, and you will lose any equity (if any) in the property when it is repossesed - perhaps you could point this out to her? Please realise this is not legal advice as i am no law person. sounds like you need to get lawyer pronto.
What it boils down to is this
1) do as she asks
2) get tennants in
3)sell house
