If you are having it done the standard way, it is two teeny holes in your stomach - doesn't affect walking or peeing in any way.

You may feel a bit groggy for a day or two, but it is nothing to worry about
dont stress it is major surgery like ethel said, i wee bit of discomfort around the tummy area, they arent going any where around your bladder bowel or your legs, i was up and walking around couple of hours after the op, should try a total hystrectomy now thats major, and the next day up and about walking as if nothing had occured!!!
sorry meant it isnt major surgery!!!
Hey zzxxee,

I was sterilised about seven years or so ago. In hosp in the morn home early eve. No probs. Certainly didnt need a week off.

You'll be fine

My ex had it done the standard way, no problems whatsoever, just took a rest for a day.
I had it done 6 years ago with no problems, just a bit sore for a couple of days! But be certain its what you want because one day you may come to regret the finality of it - like I do now! Reversal is not guaranteed nor is it cheap!
I was sterilized about 6 years ago; it really hurt when they poured boiling water on my privates!

Seriously though, for all the males considering this minor operation (yes, I know it a post for ladies, but thought I would get my view in) it did not hurt a bit. You can have it done in a Day Case Unit, and you will be in and out the same day. Repeat, gents, it did NOT hurt, so no excuse for a family of 17 kids, 2 is enough!

End of lecture.
