Please could anyone (living in Surrey) tell me at what age you have to pay for children to travel on the buses.
Thankyou,
C.

5 years old, if they notice!

Thankyou very much for your reply aims1202.
Yes, I mirror the above response, clematis. I drive buses in Shrewsury, and all under 5s are let on free. Between 5 and 16 it is "half fare" which is actually 70% of an adult fare. I kicked up saying it was too much, but they retorted that it was "fare" enough!

thanks johnnyboy 12,
I have a bus pass but am taking my 6 yr old grandson as he wants to go on a bus!!!
You are welcome, I have to save people money on buses, it is my duty to do this. In our town we have a special all day ticket for children. It was 3 until it recently went up to 3.60, and then if you buy this it covers you for the whole day. You could then get your money's worth by spending a whole day on the buses.

I know quite a few kids who want to go for a ride on a bus. When I was at school (don't ask how many years ago) one kid had never been in a bus or train, but had been in an army helicopter!
Depends wether your part of surrey still comes under London fares. Oyster fares are free for people under 16.
