For at least the last 5 years or so many couples have broken up because of flirting online OR finding that perfect (online) mate... Why do people in relationships seem to be turning to online companionship? Some people even travel half way around the world to meet there dream mate just to find that he/she is nothing what they thought. What do you guys think of this?

Its the same as any relationship breakup, there's something wrong somewhere, even if one partner doesn't think there's anything wrong, the other obviously does. The internet just makes it easier, probably too easy. Thats what I think, anyway.

I agree with the above answer.

It's so easy to get in touch with anyone, anywhere in the world - something we would never have done before the internet appeared.

I guess that when you are just emailing someone, you can make yourself and your life seem much better than it really is so it's no wonder people get sucked in.

Glad I've never got in that situation!

Its an easy was for guys to meet girls without their girlfriends finding out fo their mates. I have seen this first hand. I know a guy who has been with his gf for 6 years and he has a profile on a dating site stating he is single. It gives him a outlet to meet women by messing on the comp all day at work, then going home to his gf who is none the wiser. He'll meet these women off the net in his lunch breaks, very sneaky. What a lovely guy.
