You could give your local Environmental health dept a call. They may well investigate the matter by taking it up with the factory where they are packed and their enforcing food authority (local council).

Whilst it wasn't pleasant and shouldn't really occur, peas are a natural product and as such occasionally you might expect the odd insect or mollusc to get through.

yeah, you're right. I might just leave it. I was just a bit shocked, as it just looked like a blackish pea and it was only when i saw him pick it up that I had a closer look!
Send it back to the manufacturer if you've still got it. Having been blanched and frozen I'm sure it's harmless, but they'll probably send you a free voucher of some kind if it's a genuine complaint. And if the thought of eating a snail worries you, they do it in France all the time - smothered with garlic butter!

I have very fond memories WendyS of dining on snails in a restaurant looking out on the notre dame! Believe me, you would not want to eat this cracked, mouldy old specimen, no matter how much garlic butter covered it!!
..contact Iceland head office ..the number should be on the packet...tell them your todler nearly ate it and you are quite distressed, but you don't want to make a huge fuss and contact enviromental health, press etc, they will be so happy they will send you loads of vouchers!....
ermintrude took the words out of my mouth. Best way in my books
Remember NOT to call Environmental health AFTER this as they will not be able to investigate if you send Iceland the product as they will ask.

this reminds me of Heston Blumenthals famous recipe from the Fat Duck (recently voted the best restaurant in the World), SNAIL PORRIDGE

the oats are cooked like risotto rice in the parsley butter and would resemble Crisgals dish. Thats funny. Iceland might be moving up market ;)
