I believe that when parents are strict they make their children lie to get their way, My friend's parents don't allow her to date and she always lies to her parents that she is going to my house when she is actually going to meet up with her boyfriend, and sometimes he buys her expensive stuff and I always have to confirm to her parent's that I bought that stuff. I know this is wrong but maybe if they gave her a little bit of freedom she would let them in on what is going on in her life

Yes, it might well be right. I'd prefer mine to tell me where they are, than give them a list of rules. If they are old enough to be out by themselves, they are old enough to be open and already know right and wrong.

Autumn, you may find other topic headings are better suited to your questions.

Your parents were obviously very strict then, since you practise lying as much as your friend.

I am new to this thing and it really confuses me
Don't worry Carie...I'm sure you'll get the hang of it before long.......
Look at the list on the left - this could go in 'Family' or 'Body and Soul' or 'Chatterbank' if you don't mind silly answers.
I have just moved this over here for you :)
I kinda agree with you. As a teen I had freedom as long as followed a few rules. No drinking, always say where I am and estimated time home, always do my homework.

I had a friend I always had to cover for. Luckily her parents knew she was a liar and knew, although I was lying too, that I just didn't want my mate to get in trouble.
I disagree. My very strict father lied to us children; also he couldn't tell which of us was lying to him, so he used to beat all of us, calling all of us liars. Which made me hate that situation so much that at a very early age I resolved never to lie.
That's completely different. Not all strict parents beat their children.

And trust is very important.
Yes- and they have to trust you too, to be able to be honest.
You are mistaken. Parents don't make their children lie; but the children may choose to do so.

Whilst it may be true that their children may feel they have more incentive and if they choose to lie may get more practice; I suspect the ability to remain calm and recall all the lies they tell in order to be consistent and remain plausible, probably requires inherent abilities.
