How do you find out a company's name when you only have a fax number?

Maybe if you send a blank fax, the transmission report will give the company's name.
Not so sure if it applies to the UK as my memory is useless, but I know it happens abroad.
Sometimes companies/people use the same number as their phone AND their fax number. I've no idea how this works, I've just seen it happen (as my job means that I have phone and fax people in the UK and abroad).
Maybe phone the number and hope that you don't hear that loud screech!?
Just send a fax to reception and request their details. They'll probably fax you a letterhead or compliments slip.
Google the fax number, they probably have a web presence.
