What do you mean there are too many to put on the computer? Do you mean you haven't the time to scan them or that you don't have a hard disk large enough?
How many do you have? Are the majority colour or B/W?

Howard both colour and black and white no I dont have a hard disk large enough and there is 100s of them I like to have an actual photograph but its knowing how to store them all at the moment they are all loose in 3 large plastic boxes
In tins. I think looking through photographs in a tin is much better than in a photo album. Put them in tins (or buy boxes) and label them.
If you got something like this you could store approx 15,000 colour images of A4 size scanned at 600dpi and saved as .BMP files.

Don't know if this will help but my daughter-in-law has her photos made into books. Groupon often has them at much reduced prices. I think she likes to use 'my publisher.com' if she can but there are several of them. You either scan your photos in or direct from the computer and 10 days later back comes a lovely hard back book in the post with all your piccies in. magic!
What ever you do don't part with or destroy them. When I inherited mine and the in laws photo boxes,I thought I was being so tidy minded and clearing "rubbish" to save my own family from the job. I have since worked on the family tree and realise I have destroyed so much family history.I could kick myself. Its so therapeutic going through old photo's and reliving memories.
You could take them to a shop to be scanned on to a memory card. I did with a load of mine, worked out much cheaper than buying a scanner.
