Dont know, they do not wish to know the sex of the baby
How about a Premium Bond then? You never know, they could win big on them.
We buy all our new babies the Royal Mint coin set for the year of their birth. You could do that, but it'll be a lot of coins if you do it every year!
Buy a Krugerrand on each birthday and when 18 is reached you give him /her all of them.

If its a girl you could buy a silver charm for a bracelet every year, for a boy it could be a collectible car.

I was a bit jelous she has a keepsake like that! Hehe! X
a letter from you to the baby - with an update of what you've been doing, if and when you've seen the baby/child, an update on what you've been told about what the baby's doing. Buy a keepsake box to send with the first letter, and label it "Letters from Grandma". Or even a monthly diary note so when the baby grows up he/she will be able to read through them and find out more about his/her family - you could attach old photographs of your son/daughter when they were a child etc.
Hi Bella, every year Swarvoski bring out a crystal snowflake which is unique in design. Everyone has a lovely ribbon and a little tag with the year on. I buy one each for my daughters ( £45 ) but they truly are special, the idea was that in time when the have their own houses they will then have them. It's like a family ritual unwrapping them from the layers of tissue at christmas, my brother also collects little china trinket boxes for his daughter from Halcyon Days and they bring out a different edition every year. I like the idea that hopefully when I am no longer around they will still have these to do the same with their children ( hopefully ).
