I am from a family of seven and none of us has a middle name - mother said one was enough - why have two.  Of course everyone else I know has a middle name - even my daughter.

I'm one of ten & the only girl out of six without a middle name! One brother out of four doesn't have one either! I've always wondered why.
-- answer removed --

I have two middle names smudge and the second one is a family name & almost my username (which, incidently, you called me by mistake after my first post with new name!!). Not hard to work out now!

You're one of ten!!! Wow! I've an older brother - no middle name, younger sis - one middle name.

I have no middle name, but with the name I have (this is my maiden name) do I want one? Hubby has one middle name.

I don't smudge, my parents thought my first name was long enough. Husband doesn't have one either.

no middle name - my parents thought they were pointless, so didn't bother. I totally agree, so my son doesn't have one either.  Most folk I know don't like or use their middle names, and I don't do that whole nonsense about naming folk after long dead rellies.

I have a middle name.  My husband has a middle name and my son has two middle names, because he was born so soon after my father and grandfather died I decided that he should be named after both of them.  I did like both names as well.

No middle name here

I'm so glad I'm not alone! My dear Mum said my name was so nice on its own, another one would spoil it - so I do bear that in mind! -x-

I have a middle name - Denise (yuk)

My mum was convinced she was expecting a boy when she was having me and I was going to be called John. She had no girls names in mind and when I made my appearance she named me after twin girls belonging to the woman in the next bed.

(Not very original of her, but I guess I'm lucky in one way. If my mum had been on her own in the ward I could have ended up being called Incubator or Handwashbasin.)

Did you know that if you haven't got a middle name, it means you're adopted? Fact.

What are you on Indie? lol.
Indie, if you have two middle names does it mean you're illegitimate?  I have & I am.  (Didn't find out until last year at the age of 50!!!)

Smudge you are so kind.

Now, about my pile of ironing which is beginning to resemble Ayers Rock.....

P.S. On the subject of names, don't you find you can guess people's ages from their names sometimes? (e.g. is there an Ethel under 75?) I hate my middle name because it seems so dated.

Robinia - who cares if you're illegitmate - you're still lovely.

thikasabrik - I would love for us to give our first names on here - but I think it would detract from our usernames - so we'll just have to carry on guessing! BTW, Ethel's a nice name, lol.

Now about your pile of ironing - I have one that resembles Table Mountain.......so shall we get cracking tomorrow.......!

I have no middle name but Brenda The Elephant has, it's The.

We didn't give our baby Thomas a middle name. He was special enough without one. Besides middle names are only used when people are naughty and our baby was a perfect angel. xxx

Oh thanks smudge but I expect that 50 years ago where we lived I was a wee scandal !!
