they are so the lap part of a seatbelt dosen't go right across the bump - if you are in a crash the lapbelt can kill an unborn baby
i had one, will try and find link.
It had a pad that you sat on with a velcro loop to feed the belt through.
It was perfectly comfy to use.

ps, i didnt want to pry either, knew youd update us if needs be.
My daughter used them and found them comfy, so go for it. Glad all is well.

since when has everyone on here been so shy then??? :)
i suppose when its someone we "know" and dont want to overstep mark or say anything out of turn. blimey, us lot might even be considerate! :)
I have seen them but never used them. I personally dont think they are necessary as you can just tuck the seat belt under your bump and it feels fine. Obviously I cant say how this would be in an accident as I never had one! Surely if it were that dangerous though bump belts would be much more widely available and midwives would advise mums to be to wear them?
Anyway, if you want one, then get one! Its your choice of course and congratulations, its great to hear.
Didn't see your previous post, until that link just now, bednobs. Just want to say Congratulations and wish you all the very, very best. x

ps. never used bump belts, so sorry, don't know

thanks all, ine of the friends i met through SANDS lost her baby when she was 29 weeks pregnant - she was hit by a lorry whos drivers foot had slipped off the brake, and the impact with the seatbely fractured the unborn baby's skull. I guess for a lot of reasons, i'm just anxious
