My hair is currently chin length with layers. How long should it take before it is 'just past the shoulder' length? I like to get a trim at least every 6 weeks so will I not just be having the extra growth cut off?..If so then what is the best way to go about letting hair grow?

The best way is to avoid the hairdresser unless you have loads of split ends! They always snip off more than they should even when you say 'just dead end my hair please,' they take off about one inch!

I agree with Kerris, i had my hair cut off to my eye level by a naughty hairdresser (i looked like an idiot!!) it took me 2 1/2 years to get it to my shoulders because at 1st i kept going for a trim and they were always taking too much off in the end i only went wen i really really need to go and it got longer much quicker!!

Hair grows at around half an inch a month, but it varies from person to person
