I'm 38 weeks today. For some reason, baby has been very active for the past 5 hours, really wriggling and kicking. Does anyone know if a more active baby towards the end of pregnancy, means it's due to arrive very soon?

Thanks

No. He might go very still for a bit soon, but I'm sure he's just stretching his limbs. he'll be getting a little cramped in there now. : )

Hi gbg - I know what you mean. I used to grab my son's little foot and feel him wriggling about. Loved it.

I know Goodbye, it has just zoomed past.

It is bizarre when I see knees and elbows poking through, guess that makes it feel more real.
When's your due date, Velvetee?

Hi - and yes, I used to feel the same way.
You get that nervous feeling whilst you're waiting, don't you, because with your first, you have no idea what to expect - but when it comes down to it - it's a fantastic experience.

Hi Ice, I'm due on 13th June, exactly 2 weeks time, not sure what to expect and still not organised in the home.
Velvetee, baby will arrive when it is good and ready. Keep your bag packed lol
Take it easy, you need to charge your batteries now.
You are approaching the most mind blowingly different experience of your life.
enjoy.
I absoluttely loved it when my two were born.
Velvetee - good advice from Rosetta. Keep that bag stocked up ready. It won't be long now, will it?
By the way - a tip from an old midwife - which works - when your final contractions start, you won't be able to stop them very well (grin) - but try and push down towards your bottom, as though you're going to the loo! It helps prevent tearing, and teh need for an episiotomy.

So did I, gbg - and yes, it really does work. I had both of my children with no pain relief at all, and I can honestly say that yes, it was very tiring the first time - 25 hours in labour - but a doddle. Nothing like I'd expected at all.

Thanks everyone. I had my first cup of Raspberry Leaf Tea yesterday and it wasn't very nice. I should really try to stick with it. The bags are packed and ready to go.

oh wow Velvetee....babe is jostling for position; head down to engage. Has your shape changed with more bulge lower?

Remember, the sooner he's out the quicker the contractions stop.....and that's the time to get the cider!
Unfortunately V, you haven't given it time to work. Best to take it from 6-7 months onwards, several cups a day. I think it tastes putrid - but it DOES work. Bear it in mind if you decide to have any more!

Well I was told by several Midwives and also says on the pack not to take before 37 weeks, so thought it best to wait.
It's best to buy the loose leaves Velvetee, not the ready-madde teabags. There's a warning not to drink it before 3 months, as it can induce miscariage. It works on the system like slippery elm does, and "paves the way" for the baby to move down the birth canal. From 6 months, it's safe to take, hun, and really does work - but who knows - just a few cups of it from now on might help. Good luck anyway.
