How much weight??

Hi people, I'm 26 weeks pregnant and have been trying not to get weighed so often but I did yesterday and I've only put on about 11-12lbs. My bump is growing steadily and people keep saying that i'm quite big for 6 months but I thought I would've put on more than this by now?? I should say I was a size 14 before I got pregnant and have always put weight on very easily. Midwife measured me 2 weeks ago and everything was ok. Does this sound normal? Also, I'm still being sick and have found that one of the things I CANNOT stomach (bleugh to even think about it) is milk. Not even in tea or anything. I'm trying to eat cheese most days and still have a folic acid (when I remember) but I'm a bit concerned that the baby wont be getting enough calcium. Has anyone else had this aversion? Many thanks.

apparently your not meant to put on more than 2 stone during pregnancy, and youve still got the last big growth at 7-8 months when baby starts getting fat under the skin (so im told)

but im 34 weeks and have only put on around a stone myself, if you havent majorly increased what your eating you could be loosing your weight and baby growing its own weight.

havent had the milk thing, but i do still have days when i feel sick and can barely eat- which again im told is normal for some women to suffer morning sickness throughout
I am the other way i have no bump hardly most people cant tell im pregnant but i am still being sick and can not stomach milk also i was told the baby will get all it needs from you but its you that wont have enough calcium. i weighed 8stone before and now im 7.
Hi lolly, I don't know anything about the weight thing, but the MW will keep an eye on you and bump and will say if she's concerned. When I was full term ppl thought my bump looked small yet Nancy weighed 7lbs 10oz!

Why not try swapping your folic acid for a multi vitamin for pregnant and breastfeeding women. I took 'Sanatogen pro-natal' because I was worried I wasn't getting a very varied diet (too busy!!) it's got calcium in it, although I really didn't need that coz I craved milk - I usually can't stand the stuff!!

dont worry about your weight it really sounds absolutely normal! i was about 10 1/2 stone and about a size 10 before i had my kids but with my daughter i went up to nearly 12 1/2stone she was 8lb 2 when she was born and was size 12 with my son and weighed the same roughly as with my daughter but my son was 10lb10ozs at birth so it really varies. just enjoy being healthy and indulge when the notion takes you, youll be able to shift it and maybe more afterwards, specially if you decided to breastfeed and light exercise. good luck!
hello, i would say the majority of people who get sickness in pregnancy end up loosing weight to be honest!!

i am only about 13 weeks and my trousers are falling off me!! i havent been sick (yet) but felt sick for the past 6 weeks!!! i have hardly been able to eat anything!!! ive gone off meat and loads of other foods! but i feel my wasteline getting slightly tighter but the legs in my trousers are well baggy!! but im sure the baby is gaining just normally! i wouldnt worry xxxxx

Hiya, I only put on a stone and a half throughout my entire pregnancy, I was a size 14 at the start too.

Milk didn't bother me but I have heard of lots of people who yacked at the thought of it, even in tea.

P.S. I don't think you have to take folic acid past 12weeks? I doubt it is harmful to take it now but I don't know if there is any benefit? Someone else might know more though.

Hi thanks for all your answers. I guess I'm just normal then! I just read that I should have gained more by now. Suppose thats where the internet is a bad thing- you can have too much information. I'v just carried on with the folic cos its a source of calcium but I think I''l have a look out for the prenatal multi vits instead. All the literature says 'make sure you have a healthy and varied diet' but like you say K8, Its hard when you're busy and I've been sticking to the things that dont make me feel crappy!
