Sounds silly but I am 25 weeks pregnant and had to walk through a muddy/flooded field yesterday with only flip flops on. Therefore, making my feet incredibly dirty!! I rinsed them with a water bottle afterwards and washed them thoroughly as soon as I got home, but I am worried that I might have passed something on to my unborn child? There were no cuts on my feet and I only walked about 50meters, but wonder if I should see my doctor as the mud did not smell too good?

as long as you cleaned them thoroughly and your hands so that you didnt ingest anything bad then you should be perfectly ok. Even if you got something into your bloodstream the placenta would normally filter out a lot of nastys.

You sound very worried though so rather than wait for an appt with your GP phone your midwife and have a chat about whats worrying you

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

I think that it is one of those common sense over pregnancy paranoia........
lol i know what you mean, its usual in pregnancy. But worrying and stress isnt good for you so just give them a call and hear it from a professional.

then relax and wait for the next worry to come along, theres always something :)
.....And then when you have nothing to worry about you can worry about the fact that might be forgetting to worry about something important.... not that I was like that of course, oh no siree... cool as a cucumber, me ;-D

As Red has said, you can ring the midwife to put your mind at rest but it is natural to worry about these things during pregnancy, although I am sure it is nothing to be bothered about atall x

Ha ha! I know.

It is just the smell of the mud was horrible (almost like cow muck) and it made me wonder if anything could be absorbed into my body via my skin and affec the baby.....Will give my midwife a call. I just really didn't want to waste the doctors time if it wasn't necessary...
chances are that your midwife will know more than your GP anyway so shes best person to call and often easier to get hold of.

Aw bless you! Red is right. Call your midwife if you are worried. However, most kids EAT mud (and various other things) once they are out and playing so don't worry too much! I remember my mother telling me about the time I ate creasote wood paint as a child....
