the NHS will not just allow you to choose a c-section unless there is a medical reason for doing so. A c-section is a major operation and as such carries some risk to mother and baby, and takes a long time to recover from. You cant drive for 6 weeks and your movement can be limited so even holding baby may be painful. I know a woman who's baby is 11 weeks old and yet she is still suffering from an unhealed wound which although not infected is causing great distress and discomfort for her.
No, and neither should it be an option apart from where it is medically or psychologically required. If people want the option, they should go private. Great answer from redcrx.
thank you ali, I agree with you that if its for any reason other than those mentioned that the woman should pay for it privately.
I agree with redcrx and ali. In any case, a C Section is not the easier option..as redcrx has pointed out :o)

Thanks everyone. I only asked this as I am quite petite
just under 5ft & slender. It just scares me whether my body can cope with a natural birth. I'm not pregnant but myself & my partner are hoping to try.
sonak,
just think how many millions of women give birth. You will be monitored via scans and if baby is on the large size then you will have discussions with midwife and a consultant to discuss options. Try not to worry.
Redcrx is right, Sonak ~ the majority of women are designed to give birth no matter what their size..for example I know of a woman from Thailand (she was in the labour ward with me :o) and she was only 4' 11"..she gave birth to a strapping 10lb baby boy, despite being very slim & petite! I was once told by a midwife that a baby will only usually grow to the size a woman can cope with.

Whether this is true or not I don't know ;o)

It can be done..but as redcrz says, you will be monitored for baby growth.
