Plasticky smelling steriliser

Sorry to post this in pregnancy but thought it was the best place.

In short, I'm combining breast and bottle feeding (expressed milk) and use a Tommee Tippee steam steriliser.

We accidentally put a dummy container in with the bottles when we first used it and it came out warped so clearly not suitable for steaming.

All the bottles that come out of the steriliser have a plasticky smell to them and I'm unsure if this is normal or due to the item that warped when we first used it.

I'm using medela and TT own bottles so they are BPA free.

Can anyone shed any light on this for me? Is this normal?

Thanks in advance.

I think this is normal. Dont think this has anything to do with the container. I never liked the smell of the steam when I opened the steriliser to be honest. As long as you give it a wash out every few times it will be fine.
I also hate the smell of "steam" that comes from my sterilizer when it's been run, and it does smell a bit plasticky

Thanks. It's the inside of some of the bottles that smell though after they've been in it. The tommee tippee ones seem ok, it's the medela ones. Just wasn't sure if it was normal, or some form of tainting due to us warping that plastic once.
hello there, i was thinking about this today.
i am also using medela bottles and had a good sniff when i steri;ised earlier. The breast pump apparatus did not smell, neither did the yello valve thingy. However, the bottle did smell plasticky
Can i ask you a question?
how are you finding enough time to express AND bottle feed the baby? i plan to do this because my baby is in special care and she tires quickly so can't take all she needs directly from the source(!) but can suck from a bottle easier. i was trying to work out how i could work it when i got home but i just can't see how i'm going to manage time-wise.
