Just thought I'd wish all the Mum's a very happy Mother's Day? Were you brought tea in bed this morning?

Happy Mother's Day to you, Smudge!

Happy Mothers Day to you as well.

No I just got a card but going out for meal later.

Hate to burst your bubble but it's not Mother's Day today.  It is Mothering Sunday which is a religious festival to celebrate your 'Mother Church' so please all return your cards and presents forthwith  ;-)
Happy Mother's Day smudge!  No tea, sons are grown & flown, lots of flowers though. They are very good to me all year so mothers day feels a bit unnecessary (to me) if you know what I mean. What I do miss, from when they were small, is finding a little primula in a pot with it's flower heads all bent under one of their beds the day before.  Ohhh, filling up now.....
Sorry to correct you kempie - but on Mothering Sunday we celebrate Mother Church , Mary the mother of Christ and our own mothers.
Keep your presents!

No tea.  I did get a very nice card and a phone call with:

'Mum, you know my CD you borrowed, well you can keep it as your Mothers' Day pressie as I thought I would never  get it back so I bought another one to replace it'

Bless!

I was under the impression that it was called Mothering Sunday because it was the one day of the year off for young girls in service to return home and visit Mum for a day.

Durr if I'm wrong then.

Anyway, they all forgot except for my son who said he had made me a card at school but it went pear-shaped and honestly I really wouldn't want it. Bless him.

Our daughters have also flown the nest, but we are fortunate enough to see each other on a regular basis. They popped in again today, with most importantly - a big meaningful hug from each of them.

In A Pickle - We do know how you feel as my Husband's Mum died way back in 1961, at the very young age of 44 yrs. My Mum is no longer with us either. We also miss them terribly.

So God bless all Mum's past & present.

Must just add, we know our daughters love us very much, throughout the year & not just on Mother's Day, etc. Having said that - their beautifully worded cards always have me in tears!

we spoilt my mum rotten & she loved it. still don't think that a fantastic mothers' day would make up for the hassle that the three of us have caused her, but i guess it's the effort that counts

My husband couldn't be bothered to do anything for me so I'm not too chuffed with him at the moment. Thoughtless git!

Ah Tracey - well you know what to do on Father's Day then! Although two wrongs don't make a right, it might make him remember next year!
Happy mothers day indeed - hubby was sick all over front room carpet so I spent the entire day shampooing the carpet and washing loose covers - forget it!

netibiza - shame you didn't enjoy Mother's Day. Hope your husband feels better today!
Thanx smudge, hubby will feel better if he lays of the beer - and anyway I'm not his mum - daughter celebrates Spanish Mother's Day in May so hopefully he'll be sober and I'll get a pressie!!!
Question Author

I'm sure you won't be forgotten next time netibiza! Have a lovely day. -x-

although it is not Mother's day here... in my family we have (at the insistance of my mother) banned all mother's day activities, due to the "curse"..it just seems, that no matter how perfect the plan - the whole day ends up very pear shaped!!!

But I still call and do the flower thing....

Question Author

Ah - that's a shame Marvin, especially if you try your best. I only wish I had my Mum around to give flowers to. (And Dad of course - but he wouldn't want flowers!).

Incidentally, where are you from?
