Pee bottle for the nurse to test

Does the pee have to be really fresh or is it ok as long as it's same day?

One assumes that the "pee bottle" is sterilised, a mid stream specimen is obtained and it is to be tested for a urinary tract infection, then it must be done the same day.

For any other tests, it must be done the same day.
