My 1 year old has been diagnosed with chicken pox. She has some spots but not loads (less than 20 altogether) and doesn't appear to be itchy.

Starting to wonder if it's really chicken pox. Is chicken pox always itchy, and is it possible to have such a mild case?

Yes Aniseed, you can have mild cases and very mild cases - my best fried had chicken pox with only one pox spot on her toe!!

Blessing is, she's had it early, not so blessing is no-one is 100% sure that you cant catch it again if it was a mild case.

Good luck

Thats what I was gonna say, If its a mild case then there is a small chance of reaccurance. My little girl had it last Christmas (she was nearly two) and she had a VERY severe case of it, it was everywhere. But her cousin she caught it off, had only a very mild case.

Thanks for your answers. It's great that she's had it so mildly, but shame about the possible non-immunity.

My mum says that I've had it twice, I guess the first time must've been mild too but the 2nd definitely wasn't!

My son had a very mild case when he was about 12 months old, then got an extremely severe case when he was about 4 - he was covered from head to toe. Best place for him was in the bath - it stops the itching for a while, and playing in the water always took his mind off everything else anyway. Then we played a gam putting on calamine lotion - it was fun really!!
