Best double buggy??

Hi, can anyone recommend a double buggy? I will be looking to buy one to suit a 20 month old boy and a newborn. A three-wheeler might be a preference but it isn't essential.

we chose the Mamas and Papas Twin Aria, which is very light to carry and incredibly easy to put up and down. Suitable from birth and is a side by side pushchair. Slightly narrower than some, so fits down the aisles in most shops. However, I found it very difficult to push when I had my toddler and baby in it (easy with just the baby), the uneven weight made it quite tricky (probably ideal for twins). I normally have the wheels on 'swivel' rather than fixed, don't know if this has an impact.
So, it has a number of points to recommend it, but be aware of the frustration that can be experienced pushing.

We bought the Mama and Papas Aria and it is nice and light and will fit in a really small car boot. However, it went wrong really quickly and we only actually used it (or its replacement) for about 4 months (we had a 20 month old and a new baby). The Mama and Papas one worked out really expensive for the amount of time we used it (and we bought all the cosy toes things and rain covers, etc.

I had the single aria which was ok, but the small wheels made it a little difficult to push around any kind of uneven surface, I now have an 'urban detour twin alpine' from mothercare which is excellent. Whatever you go for I would certainly recommend the big inflatable tyres, they make it so much easier to push around, 3 wheels are a bonus aswell - there's one on ebay at the moment going for 99p

I had a 16mth old when I had my second child. We went for a tandem buggy (front and back seats) as they are easier to get in and out of shop doorways and house doorways than a side by side buggy. It was perfect for our boys, it was from mothercare (made by Graco, but mothercare's own brand) and cost 130.00. Best 130.00 I ever spent...

My friend got a Maclaren Twin Traveller for her 18 month old and her newborn and it was a dream to push. Very even weight with or without the older one in it! She only had one problem as she didnt drive she never needed to put it down until one day and then she didnt know how to do it!

Have you considered a buggy board rather than a double buggy, the gap between my 2 was 15 months and I tried a double buggy but found buggy board easier and very rarely used double buggy

i work in a pram shop and undoubtedly the best pushchair for different age children is the nipper double 360 (3 wheel all terrain, very light-9kgs) , about �299. stay away from the twin aria, its great for newborn twins but a nightmare for a baby and toddler, i've had so many faulty ones returned! if you want a car seat to go on the pushchair you want a jane powertwin (3 wheel tandem 14.8kg) around �425 or a jane twin two (4 wheel tandem 9kg with lay flat car seat) around �550.

Hi, after taking a lot of advice I've just bought a double buggy (the new baby is due in may). It's actually a relatively cheap tandem one from mothercare (�129) - my eldest will sit in the front and the baby goes in the rear, either sitting up or reclining flat. I think it seems like very good value. I tried my son in a nipper double 360 and he was too big for it - his arms hung well over the side and if a newborn had been sat next to him it could have been at risk of being elbowed frequently!! I couldn't imagine it working with 2 kids of different ages, although the same age should be ok. Was a nice looking pram though. He was also too squashed iin the maclaren double buggy -even though he normally rides in a maclaren - apparantly the double seats are narrower than the single?! Anyway, I'm very pleased with my purchase so just wanted to pass that on. Thanks for all the advice x (oh, I should say that my son is tall for his age but not particularly chunky or anything )
