I was just sitting outside on my front door step with my son (he is 10) because it's a lovely morning.
We just had the nicest little talk about life, how we love each other and his future. He is off to school now and I'm in a great mood.
It wasnt really much but for some reason it just felt great! lol I know I'm being sappy but....
Has anyone else had a nice little "this is why I love being a parent" moments recently? :-)

Not a parent moment but an Auntie moment.
I took my 2 year old niece shopping last night and while I was bent down looking at something on the bottom shelf, she ran at me, gave me a massive hug and kiss on the face and said "I love you Auntie DancingDoris" completely out of the blue.
She even cried when I took her home because she wanted to stay with me

*smug satisfaction*
Looking after, and relating to children is such a fantastix experience. As a potential stp-father, I remember my trepidation at dealing with my girlfriend's two daughters. I can still remember all of us going out for a walk in ********, and the youngest slipping her hand into mine as if it was the most natural thing in the world. She was just four.

Now our middle daughter, she is thirty, and gets married on Sunday, I will be so proud to give her away, because that one moment has led to twenty-six years of happiness (twenty of them as a married couple) - and i shall be thinking of that momen as we walk down the aisle together,
Not sure what I said that aroused the ire of the auto-sensor, but I meant to say " ... a walk in the country ..."
Oh andy I'm all choked up now that's lovely :-)
Oh crikey ~ I have just been in tears with my daughter as her GCSE results weren't what she wanted, expected or worked damned hard for..I have been mopping up her tears & mine and telling her that it isn't the end of the world and she can try again (all those pep talks that us parents have to give all their lives!)

And now Andy has set me off again..only this time in a nice way. That is so beautiful, Andy ~ have a wonderful day on Sunday...what a proud dad you will be :o)
I've been sappy all week, mycats, cause my 2 wee girls started school on monday. When I saw them in their uniforms walking into the classroom I was just so proud ot them.It only seems like moments ago they were tiny and helpless, now they're off learning to read and write!
Pippa, what a shame for your daughter. Was she relying on the results for a college/uni place? Is it worth trying an appeal?
Andy, best wishes to all your family on Sunday. Hope the sun shines for you and you all have a wonderful day!
Poor you Pippa - I had the GCSE thing this morning too. My daugher did OK and I had tears in my eyes for her but tears streaming down my face for her lovely friend who failed nearly all of them. Its so tough being 16!
Oh dear - Andy has made me cry too - what a nice man!
Thanks guys :o)

She got D's, which is odd as her forecasts all year have been B's & Cs...she needed Cs for the course she wanted, but we have been to the emergency clinic at the college and they have said she can retake at 6th form college, then do her course the following year.

I just hope she can work harder than she did last year!

Congrats to all who received good results..we are going on holiday on saturday so will forget all about it for a while :o)
when i am sitting on the sofa reading and i look at my little boy and he is looking at me with the biggest grin on his face! Or when i come in from being out and he kicks his legs so widly, i always think he would be running to the door if he was able bodied!
When i have had my baby and can pick him up again i just know he is going to clamp his arms and legs round me, and i cant wait, he will be soooo pleased to have me back properly and thats when i know ho wmuch he loves me, even if he cant say it
