It's my sons birthday soon and I am going to have a party for him, he will be 10 and, for various reasons, has never had a proper birthday party. We are hiring the village hall for a few hours. Can anyone help me and tell me what I need to do/have? I am convinced I will forget something and ruin it for him

Aww bless, it won't be ruined xx

the very fact he's having his 1st proper birthday party will make him feel so special.

Make sure lots of games, treats food and music and you cant fail!

Failing all that- find a cupboard and lock yourself in it with a large bottle of voddy!

I used t own a party shop so here goes

Consider a themed party, get people to dress up as a pirate or a clown or something, consider a pinata which you will find in the party section at Asda along with a whole host of other ideas, take a ghetto blaster and some music, consider some practical activities, eg surprise parcel, I wouldnt consider an entertainer unless youre happy with cost.

For food, paperware, finger food, sandwiches, cakes biscuits, buy a cake unless confident with homebaking and good luck, oh and remember to send out rsvp invitations

If it's big enough hire a bouncy castle, they still love them at that age.

Then there's the food, cake and of course party bags.

You will have a blast, have fun and enjoy it :0)

Thank you people, I know I will start organising it waaay in advance cause I get stressed about these things. Cheers for your advice x
One idea that I am going to steal from a party that my soon went to is to put a thank you note in the party bags - something along the lines of thank you for coming to my party and for any gift that you brought me - saves having to do it later. Also, you might want to do sticky label name tags.
