My younger daughter (7) made a vow of silence with her friend on the way to school this morning. My ex has just returned our daughters and it seems she hasn't spoken all day and just raises her eyebrows when anyone, be it teachers, friends, or her Dad talk to her.

Personally, I'm enjoying the peace and quiet, but other adults seem upset by her behaviour. I think she is just being a stubborn minx and assure everyone it's just a silly game, but one of her teachers was quite put out, apparently.

Have to admit, I'm quietly impressed with her will power and don't see the harm, but would be interested to hear if other ABers think I may be missing something.

I think its just a silly game too and it will never last !!!!
I agree. Silly game and won't last. If it really starts to get to everybody, tackle her and tickle her like crazy.. that'll get her to say something lol ;)

I thought everyone was just over reacting. It's nice to know I'm not alone though. Many thanks.
Let her get on with it. Everyone else will just have to deal with it, and if that teacher is worth her salary she'll realise that seven-year-olds do daft stuff like this all the time.
aww i wish my kids had thought of that when they were younger lol. Enjoy it while it lasts Drusilla :)

Ditto everyone else.

Ignore the over-reactors. Stay chilled about it.

It'll no doubt be their reaction that is boosting your daughter's will power!

Has she spoken yet? lol..my daughter wouldn't last 5 minutes so well done to yours :o)

I agree with everyone else ~ no harm at all. I think it's great that your daughter can play little games like this..even if it is at her teachers expense!

she'll be wanting something soon enough, enjoy the peace.

I'd like to know how long it will last!

Maybe you can keep us updated...

And: no, I wouldn'T worry, at least not for the next week or so!

:o)

Hi everyone. My daughter managed to last out the whole day and didn't speak last night, so this morning I gave her a breakfast cereal I know she hates and she immediately complained. I think I preferred the peace and quiet! Thank you very much for your answers and support.

On the other side of the fence, some people would find it rude. And as for not responding to a teacher.. well I guess that's just a sign of the times. No respect.

But well done on her little experiment! I hope she has learned something from it.
My Bezzie mate is a teacher and she said she would not mind an independant minded child in her class. She loves a challenge .... she would go with the flow. It takes all sorts to make the world an interesting place.Who wants to live with Drones?
lol nice move Drusilla :)
