Last week talked to friend in Australia for 72 minutes on phone I know nothing about APPS but niece thinks she could set me up one on this iPad. However she said she thinks you can only talk for 40 mins is that correct

It hasn't been set up yet. Is there any other way via iPad without zoom

if you used whatsapp or messenger, you could see the person's face too, which may help with lip reading. And of course it's nice to see people's faces. You'd need to know which app the niece was talking of to know it's limitations though

If your friend has an Apple device - computer or ipad/iphone, you could use Facetime.

Alternatively Zoom or Skype.
